Love and Adventure: Robin and Andrew are engaged!

Oh my god, this shoot just sings to my soul! You will see why soon…

Robin and Andrew are two very down to earth wonderful people that I am so happy to have met. They are both architects whom have experienced amazing adventures around the world together. I am seriously jealous of these two! I think Chris and I are going to have to start planning some more adventures of our own soon…

They both had studied architecture school at A&M, but lost touch after graduation and didn’t even realize they were both living in Austin until one day, they randomly bumped into each other crossing the street at 6th and Lamar headed to a concert at Waterloo Records. So this is where our shoot begins!

Their engagement story is un-friggin believable! And (apart from my own on the Charles Bridge….love you babe!) is one of my favs. Andrew had been designing the perfect engagement ring with a local jeweler that used stones and platinum from both of their families for about six months hoping it would be ready before they departed on their latest adventure to Africa. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite ready yet and he would have to wait until they came back to pop the question. After a four day back packing trip through Malolotja Nature Reserve, on top of a mountain peak at sunset, Andrew couldn’t let the moment pass by. To quote their wedding website ‘Andrew asked Robin to marry him and spend a lifetime of adventures together. Her response was a resounding, "of course!" He proposed with a woven silver and giraffe tail hair ring made by a local silver-smith.’ And when they returned home, she was given her engagement ‘bling’ I mean ring.

Robin got the best of both worlds! Good job Andrew!!!

While I would have love to revisit the mountain top in Africa with them for an engagement shoot, we settled on a little Austin adventure to some of its great native environments nearby.

Seriously, this is one good looking couple!

And this is where my heart starts to melt and I let out a big sigh…oh how of love these next images. I can’t even express how much they make me feel the love between this couple…

Love you guys! I had the best time on this shoot. Can’t wait till the wedding in a few weeks! Big hugs!

Jenny and Paco are engaged!

Seriously, this was one steamy hot shoot! The Texas summer is full on here in Austin, and these amazing clients didn’t complain one bit. Luckily we were able to stay in the shade and work fast!

Jenny and Paco are good friends with another awesome couple whom recently got married. And these two are getting hitched on my 30th birthday this September in Puerto Rico. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate!

Our fist stop was Shoal Creek Park for a quick stroll along the path…this is a great place to go for a walk if you aren’t familiar. I loved Jenny’s red bohemian dress and her overall style. She is an amazing jewelry designer and I can’t wait to see her wedding ensemble she has picked for the beach front nuptials.

Okay, now even more fun. For the last part of the shoot, we headed downtown to Lanai, a venue where not only do these two frequent, but Paco occasionally showcases his DJ talents. And, I have been editing to his cool funky mixes a lot lately. They both have many fond memories here, being with each other and their friends. And so far, I am digging Paco’s location hook ups. These two definitely know the good spots in downtown, I may have to get them to write a list out for me

Seriously, this spot is perfect for a summer cocktail!

I have also been playing a lot with light in my portraits lately, thanks to a certain amazing teacher! I have always used lighting at wedding receptions, but lately, I have been experimenting with speed lights more artistically in portraits. I think it adds a whole other dimension to a collection of photographs and keeps things unique. So, keep a look out, you’ll see me experimenting some more in the upcoming posts!

And of course one last one in front of the capitol! No one was hurt, nor was any traffic stopped during this shoot. We were quick!

When we wrapped up the shoot, Jenny and Paco were ready for a night out! I went home to hit the sack, they went out to hit the dance floor! You two were wonderful! I can’t wait for wedding in Puerto Rico, we are going to have an amazing time working together! Big hugs.

Rachel and Phillip get hitched: Part 1

I have been absolutely drooling over these photos for the past two weeks and am so excited to start showing them off. And because I want to share lots and lots of these beautiful images, Rachel and Phillip’s wedding will be in a series of blog post.

So here is part 1…the preparation!

I adore getting ready shots… the details, the love and support from the family and friends, the fashion…oh the fashion! Rachel’s dress was gorgeous! And I love all the makeup and hair styling, the perfection of it all.

I love this image from the second story bridal suite…it was such a lovely window seat.

Seriously, isn’t that lace awesome. And I love how the light shines through it.

Phillip got some pre-wedding pampering. A great fresh haircut and styling! What a great idea…I am totally suggesting this some of my couples getting married this year. I mean, if you have your stylist there on site, why not send them over to the grooms room for a little trim.

This is one of my absolute favorite shots (one of the bride and groom shots coming later is tied with this one!). But these guys were so awesome and patient and we perfected this shot, not a single complaint. Honestly, I have never met such a wonderful group of guys, they were the best. A big thanks to them all! A bunch of handsome men…watch out GQ! Boom!

Rachel rocks her dress!

Last Saturday Rachel and Phillip got married and it was an absolutely gorgeous wedding! I can’t wait to share the images. But for now, since her handsome groom has now seen his stunning bride, I can show off her awesome bridal portraits. This girl worked it like a superstar. The shoot location was at Laguna Gloria, which is a wonderful outside/inside location. The rain was pouring down and so with no gorgeous available light, we had to work inside. Lucky for me, Rachel was the most easy going bride (I love it when brides are chill!) And, the dark moody outside gave us some very dramatic images towards the end…something truly unique and out of the ordinary.

I just love the giggles of this girl in these next ones….I am sure I was trying to say some embarrassing to get her to laugh.

This was when it was just overcast, the thunder and lightening started soon after.

I loved her bouquet, it was architectural, modern and sophisticated. Good choice!

Poor Rachel had a tough time deciding which one to be the display print at the reception. This one was her final choice and I think she picked a winner…very glamorous indeed and very fashion inspired.

In the garden…

I had a little visitor this morning when I went to go check out how my veggie garden is progressing. The beans are sprouting nicely, arugula has made an appearance, and the carrots are showing their tiny tops.

Hello Mr. Snail!

I think he saw me and thought…who the heck is this wierdo.

Little beans are sprouting and I have one little strawberry.

Those are the carrots back there.

I think the snail got fed up with me.

He’s off to visit this little guy.

Okay, so I am complete garden geek…call me an old lady but seriously, it makes me very happy. Its in the blood….check me out on Popo’s tractor back in the day!
